Then later through the 1970’s the course involved much to what is now and began to host regular races and even larger events. The racing community was growing at this time and the course converted to having races every Saturday on top of a whole slew of other carnivals and events. The club had some large sponsors for the events but the purse sizes were still around $2000 or so but it wasn’t until long that things started to pick. By the mid 70’s the purses rose up to $30 000 becoming the richest provincial race of the time. It was called the Prime Ministers Cup and was first run in 1974. By the time the 2000’s rolled around the Prime Minister Cup has become a major event has a purse in the millions and is attracting record crowds and online punters.
Premiere at Events at the Gold Coast Turf Club
The Gold Coast Races are some of the most premiere events in Australia they are also known for hosting massive carnival style events. The Club is host to more than 60 major events in horse racing season which are some of largest events among Aussie punters of he year. The Club is host to the Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Carnival which is the longest event that takes place there. It is held over 19 days in January and has been an annual event for quite some time. It is widely regarded as one of the Clubs most widely attended and bet on events. Some of the other major events that the Club hosts are the Easter Carnival, the Gold Coast Stakes and the Melbourne Cup Race Day.
